This standard contains the German version of the European Standard EN 61643-352 and is identical with the International Standard IEC 61643-352. It describes principles for the selection and application of surge isolation tranformers (SIT), which consist of an isolation transformer with or without an internal winding screen, for the surge protection of communication or signalling networks. The standard also contains a series of examples for the application of surge isolation tranformers. Moreover information about lightning surge voltages in a telecommunications network are given in annex A.
