DIN EN 61643-331 VDE 0845-5-3:2004-03

This standard contains the German version of the European standard EN 61643-331:2003 and is identical with the International standard IEC 61643-331:2003. It contains requirements for metal oxide varistors (MOV) which are used for the design and the construction of surge protective devices connected to low-voltage supply systems, telecommunications and signalling networks. In this standard the basic function is described and specifications concerned the service conditions and standard test methods for the electrical characteristics of the MOV are given. Furthermore the test criteria concerning fault and failure modes are specified. In annex A specifications for the selection of MOV for the use in surge protective devices (ÜSG) of the classes I, II and III according to IEC 61643-1 are given.
