This standard contains the German version of the European standard EN 61643-341 and is identical with the Inter-national standard IEC 61643-341. It contains requirements for thyristor surge suppressors (TSS) that are designed to limit overvoltages and to divert surge currents by clipping and crowbarring. Such components are used in the construction of surge protective devices, particularly as they apply to the protection in the area of telecommunications. In this standard basic functions, configuration and component structure of thyristor surge suppressors (TSS) are described and tests for them are specified.
