This standard is applicable to ladders fully insulating sectional or hook ladders with extension or having a combination of insulating and conductive units (sectional ladders with combined units, etc.) and used for live working on a.c. or d.c. electrical installations at 1000 V and above for a.c. and 1500 V and above for d.c. The ladders are classified functionnally as category 1 and category 2: These ladders, category 1, made up a combination of units, are used for positioning workers for hot stick live working on electrical line poles. These ladders, category 2, are positioned on the towers by two hooks or by a special turning saddle.
