This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of biofilm in distribution systems and the different methods for measuring biofilm, in particular microscopy, which is not dependent on culturable bacteria, preserves spatial information on community, and is non-destructive. Topics presented include: reactor schematic; quantitative description of biofilm development; seeding the system; synthesis on attachment; and, less E. coli development and lower final density inthe pre-colonized system.
