Full Description

This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the Adelaide (Australia) Desalination Plant. Project objective was to investigate the effects of blending desalinated waterwith Happy Valley Water Treatment Plant (WTP) product water at differentblend ratios on water quality including: chlorine decay; disinfection byproduct formation;taste and odor; and, biological stability. Desired outcomes were to:provide information to determine specification fordesalinated water quality; and, determine a range of blend ratios for desalinated andHappy Valley WTP product that can be utilizedwithout a detrimental impact on water quality. Happy Valley WTP product water:conventional treatment - alum coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation and filtration;chlorine applied to settled water (achieve 0.3 mg/Lafter filtration);samples taken after filtration, prior to final chlorination; and, samples stored at 4 C before use. Disinfection strategy is presented for chlorine decay and simulated distribution system (SDS) test, along with conclusions for chlorine decay, trihalomethane formation, high DOC/bromide water, and low DOC/bromide water. Includes tables, figures.
