Full Description

Chlorine disinfection of reclaimed wastewater can produce much more complexdisinfection byproducts (DBPs) than that of drinking water. Only measuring the formation oftypical DBPs is not sufficient for evaluating the safety of reclaimed wastewater. Therefore, itis quite important to evaluate the changes of toxicity during wastewater disinfection using abattery of different biotoxicity tests. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of chlorine disinfection on theestrogenic/anti-estrogenic activities, acute toxicity and genotoxicity of biologically treatedwastewater using the yeast two-hybrid assay, photobacterium assay and umu test, respectively. Includes 10 references, figures.
