Full Description
This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the development of the SanJuan Chama Water Treatment Plant, along with ground and surface water resources, water resource management options, and Albuquerque's water conservation program. Albuquerque's Treatment Feasibility Evaluation, that began in 1997, is presented and includes sustainability principles of the triple bottom line of an appropriate balance of economic, social, and environmental needs, and a decision process that uses sustainability as the basis for analysis. The primary criteria selected for processevaluation (cost/benefit) included sub-criteria of water quality, environment, operability, and flexibility for the non-economic evaluation criteria (e.g., benefits). Alternative identification anddevelopment, and data collection indicated that total organic carbon (TOC), ozone demand, and granular activated carbon (GAC)/powdered activated carbon (PAC) adsorption will dictate the majority oftreatment needs and costs. Presentation conclusions indicate that a well-defined decision process combined with a multi-criteria analysis will result in a sustainability outcome from planning to operation. Includes tables, figures. Product Details
