This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the Tampa Bay Water Seawater Desalination Facility. Performance challenges included: significant short-circuiting in pretreatment basins resulted in minimal turbidity removal; highly uneven performance of the suspended media filters; marginal effectiveness of diatomaceous earth filters in reducing SDI; and, the salinity of the source water is higher than anticipated, thus challenging the performance of reverse osmosis membranes. Optimization efforts are provided for the pretreatment system, the suspended media filters, the diatomaceous earth filters, and the reverse osmosis membranes.
