Full Description

This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of a water quality issue of entrained/dissolved air in a well that results in milky tap water. The typical solution is the use of a stilling basin to allow the release of air, and the water level in the well drops as well flow rate increases. A new solution is presented of using membranes to remove air without breaking head, leaving asmaller footprint with lower costs. The new application of membranes involves:hydrophobic, polypropylene membrane;used in the beverage industry to remove dissolvedgases;water flows on one side of the membrane;air passes along the other side;vacuum or strip gas used to increase driving force;FDA approved; and,NSF approval pending.
