This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the California State Primacy viewpoint. Golden Guardian 08 scenario and projected impacts by theU.S. Geological Survey (USGS) included:7.8 M earthquake lasting for 90 s onsouthern San Andreas Fault on Nov. 13,2009, spanning the area from the Salton Sea to Gorman withnumerous 7.0 aftershocks;communications and utilities disrupted; numerous roads and bridges damaged andblocked; and,1600 fires. The GG08 exercise is presented and includes:state and federal functional exercise 9/4/08;two-day field, full-scale exercise (FSE) response onNov 13 - 14, 2008, 24/7;seven operational areas (counties);all three state regions - southern, inland and coastal;several cities, districts and NGOs;5.5 million participants (www.Shakeout.org);actual - just daily operations, no 24/7; local cities, districts and op areas - 1 day; planned two-day functional exercise (FE) -recovery Nov 17 - 18, 2008;Nov 17 - event + 30 days;Nov 18 - event + 45 days;largest recovery exercise;actual exercise - January 2009;two recovery task force meetings;debris management;utilities/water; and,recovery workshop.
