Full Description

This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the issues in swimming pools and the potential for disinfection byproduct (DBP) formation. The study objective was to investigate the contribution of themain precursors, natural organicmatter (NOM) and body fluids (BF), tothe formation and speciation oftrihalomethanes, haloacetic acids, andhalonitromethanes in swimming pools. The experimental approach included: 1 L of each BFA and each natural water type (3BFA + 5 NOM)TOC: 1mg/L, pH:7, Chlorine dose: 50 mg/L; temperature 21 degrees C; contact time 5 and 10 days; and, determination of DBPS (THMs, HAAs, and HNMs). Includes tables, figures.
