The powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the traditional water utility approach to organization and risks to adequacy of employeeknowledge and skill. The organizational structure for the new Seymour-Capilano Filtration Plant at the Metro Vancouver Water Treatment System is presented, and represents: a new plant built with highly automated, less-attended design philosophy; an opportunity to standardize job duties and flatten structure to simplify shift schedule; and, offers benefits for staff including flexibility, variety, opportunities for advancement and time for training. The training program for the new plant is outlined, along with the Neural Network Modeling Tooland Expert Systems Tools, and the J.D. Phillips North Reclamation Facility in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Includes table.
