Full Description

This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the project objectives that include the following: improve reliability, operability, andmaintainability of the City of North Port Water Treatment Plant(WTP); and, achieve reliable yieldof MyakkahatcheeCreek and CocoplumCanal to promotecontinuous WTPproduction. Several challenges are presented that have preventedthe consistent and reliableproduction of water, and the WTP Enhancement Studyevaluated existing treatmentprocesses and new technologies. These evaluations were used to developrecommendations on improvements to theexisting conventional WTP. New process combination of reverse osmosis (RO) withriverbank filtration pretreatment wasalso evaluated to address reduction of total dissolved solids(TDS) and sulfates. The pilot program included riverbankfiltration, bag filter, and ROprocess (no acid), and the study included testing of bank filteredwater, as well as possible conjunctiveuse via blending of bank filtered waterwith groundwater. Hydraulic performanceresults are provided. Includes figures.
