Full Description

This powerpoint presentation begins by presenting a brief overview of reuse of treated wastewater and the use of membrane bioreactors to treat wastewater for potential reuse. Several examples of beneficial reuse are presented and include the following: Solaire Battery Park City, NY; Wrentham Village Outlet Mall; Gillette Stadium Project; and Anthem, Arizona. Presentation conclusions indicate the following:the rapid bioluminescence method for AOC was successfulfor measuring the biostability of reclaimed waters; the levels of natural organic matter had a dramatic impact onthe microbiology of reclaimed water; AOC levels were about 10 times higher than in drinking water; membrane bioreactors were effective in reducing AOC andBDOC levels;conventional treatment was effective in removing microbes inwastewater, but regrowth occurred in distribution systems;growth of Legionella and Mycobacterium could have publichealth significance; and, chloramines could be beneficial in 39reclaimed systems.
