This powerpoint presentation evaluates the economic impacts ofenhanced coagulation and pHdepression on granular activated carbon (GAC) service life. Central Arizona Project (CAP) water quality assessment andoperational assessment are presented, along with thecoagulation and GAC adsorption model andbench-scale experiments for model validation, validated model applications and sensitivityanalysis involvingTOC and pH, andcoagulant dose. Study recommendations include the following: implement pH depression and/orenhanced coagulation to provideoptimization opportunity, particularly during high raw water TOCconditions; utilize the integrated coagulation/GACmodel to develop operationalstrategies for cost optimization - effect of water quality30, andeffects of GAC media and other chemicalcosts. Includes tables, figures.
