This powerpoint presentation begins by providing the SCC goal of getting as close to the hardnessgoal with as little chemical aspossible all while producingexcellent settled water quality. The Theory of Operation/Misconceptions is presented, along with optimizing performance, key indicators of performance, understanding the SCC, andnew tools for operation. Presentationconclusions indicate that: the key to optimized SCC operation isgenerating an inventory of large uniformdiameter solids that remain in suspension;SCC's can be difficult to operate due tothe solids removed on a daily basis ascompared to the inventory; and,mass balance combined with simplealgorithms and existing SCADAcapabilities can create a system whichmanages operation.
