This powerpoint presentation begins by presenting study objectives that include developing a better understanding of the following:state-level backwash recycle regulations and theirimpact on residuals handling andtreatment processes;water supply availability and finishedwater demands and how they influence residuals handlingdecisions; and, the availability of ultimate disposaloptions and how they impact the design of residualshandling facilities. A brief overview of residuals issues is provided, along with the four water treatment plants (WTPs) that were involved in this study. The paper discusses key issues affectingresiduals handling decisions such as:residuals handling and disposal regulations; availability of raw water supply; and,ultimate disposal options.
