Although the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's(USEPA's) regulatory schedule is relatively predictable,it is much more difficult to predict futureactivities by the administration or Congress thatcould potentially affect water utilities. The authorssummarize the future actions that may be taken bythe administration, Congress, the Department ofHomeland Security (DHS), and USEPA. Trends inCongress, topical issues of national concern (e.g.,security, infrastructure, and global warming), andactual regulatory deadlines are likely to influencefuture activities.
