Full Description
This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a list of media adsorption benefits for small water systems, and presents two Awwa Research Foundation publications that discuss arsenic, perchlorate, nitrate residuals treatment, and using hydrogel for arsenictreatment and brine minimization. Topics addressed by the hydrogel Project included:optimize the sorbent for various water qualityconditions;bench tests to "screen" hydrogel types forarsenic adsorption characteristics data;full-scale ion exchange brine / membraneconcentrate treatment;leaching test on spent hydrogel media; and, estimate media cost for this adsorbent undertypical operational conditions. Project summary included the following:about a dozen types of hydrogel were synthesized; comparable As removal was observed comparedwith commercial media for some type ofhydrogel;interferences from other anions, such as nitrate, sulfate, silica, etc. were minimum;iron leaching was minimum from the hydrogel; and, hydrogel was dehydrated using air to reduce thespent media volume about 17 to 20 fold. Includes table, figures. Product Details
