The elimination of EDCs and PPCPs in reuse waters using Osub3/sub, UV/Hsub2/subOsub2/sub, TiOsub2/subphotocatalysis, peracetic acid (PAA), PAA/UV and microfiltration is evaluated. In field-scaleexperiments, contaminants are monitored at pilot treatment facilities that employdifferent treatment processes. In expanded bench-scale tests, contaminants are beingspiked into reuse waters to allow for direct assessment of the effectiveness of eachtechnology and observe elimination kinetics that may be unique to the waters evaluated.Field results reveal destruction of 90% or greater of many natural estrogens afterozonation or treatment with UV/Hsub2/subOsub2/sub but more persistent chemicals were not eliminated.This study seeks to determine the effectiveness of particular technologies and possibledependence on varying water qualities.
