Chloramines offer a relatively inexpensive means for reducing trihalomethane (THM) formation by providing an alternate disinfection process to the use of a free chlorine residual. In Huron, South Dakota chloramines were found to maintain the water quality and reduce THM levels while improving the taste and odor of the water. Includes 14 references, tables, figures.
