Full Description

This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the U.S. brackish reverse osmosis (RO) brine disposal practices.a brief description of vibratory shear enhanced process (VSEP) technology is provided, along with applying VSEP to desalination brine disposal, andcost estimations for VSEP brine applications. Engineering considerations and warranty issues are listed. Presentation conclusions indicate the following: brine disposal cost could be prohibitive in BWRO;VSEP is a promising technology for brackish RO brinereduction;VSEP could increase overall recovery to 99+%, therebyreducing brine disposal cost;cost of VSEP varies greatly, depending on application, operation philosophy, material cost (metal), andproduction scale of the vendor;optimizing VSEP operation and chemistry could furtherreduce application costs; and, procuring and designing a VSEP system requires additionalunconventional engineering considerations. Includes tables, figures.
