Environmental permitting and outreach issues are presented and lessons learned included the following: organized public can change the board's mind;give community lots of time to digest projectelements and impacts;media will always cover controversy andcommunity opposition; approach community outreach with tact anddiplomacy early and often; facility/project naming; organization needs to value publicoutreach;develop a project TEAM;create a "project working group"; talk to the media; and,keep your board informed.
