The format and results of a number of water security exercises conducted by thePennsylvania AWWA Security Committee, US Army, and US Environmental Protection Agency from 2002-2005 aredescribed in this paper. The purpose of these exercises was to practicecollaborative problem solving with utilities, regulatory agencies, public health officials,and other emergency responders. Lessons learned and practical recommendations areprovided. This paper and the referenced resources should be useful for waterutilities and others who are involved in emergency planning and the design of securityexercises. Includes 13 references.
