Full Description

Conventional design of low pressure membrane systems for the removal of turbidity andorganics requires an extended coagulant contact time. The recommended contact time rangesfrom 10 to 30 minutes. In this pilot study, the primary purpose was to determine the organic andturbidity removal efficiency while minimizing the coagulant contact time. The study showed that with a coagulant contact time of less than 1 minute, the low pressuremembrane systems tested were able to produce a filtrate with an average turbidity less than0.05 NTU and remove better than 40% of the influent total organic carbon. Includes tables.
