Full Description
This paper describes a database that was developed for use by a consulting engineering firm for alltreatment facility design projects. That database manages data traditionally kept inequipment data sheets, but also allows for linking of electronic catalog files, digitalphotographs, and other supporting documentation. The database may be accesseddirectly through an application interface or by using a web browser. The design of thedatabase allows for the automatic generation of valve, piping, control device, andequipment schedules used in the contract documents. This automatic generation allowschanges to equipment numbering or naming to be reflected in the various contractdocuments, even late in the design process. A table of drawing references for each pieceof equipment is populated during the Quality Control (QC) review. Using this, queriesrun during the QC process will quickly show inconsistencies between the drawings andspecifications. Furthermore, the data are quickly accessible during the review of shopdrawingsto ensure that what was specified is actually installed. Next, the designinformation may be easily integrated into the electronic O Product Details
