Full Description

Scottsdale, Arizona is a desert community with an established history of utilizingmembrane systems to meet its water quality and treatment goals. The community isbroadening its application of this technology by expanding one facility, and adding twomore membrane treatment systems. Scottsdale believes in membrane technology becausemembranes produce a predictable, consistently high quality product, and shiftsoperational responsibilities from water quality to productivity issues. This shift aids staffin meeting the myriad of water quality requirements that have been imposed uponutilities over the last few years, and in most cases, those that will be applied in the nearfuture. This paper outlines Scottsdale's application of membrane systems by providing asummary of the first three years of operation at Scottsdale's Water Campus, discussingpilot testing, membrane procurement and design of the Chaparral WTP, and pilot testing, design, and water quality issues associated with the addition of reverse osmosis to its centralgroundwater treatment facility (CGTF). Includes tables, figures, appendix.
