Full Description

Experiments were conducted on two diverse water sources, which were subjected to various treatments and natural organic matter (NOM) fractionations, to study the formation of dihalogenated haloacetic acids (DXAAs) during chloramination. Factors contributing to DXAA formation, pH, Cl2/N ratio, bromide, temperature, and chloramine residuals, were evaluated, and pH and bromide were determined to be significant factors. DXAA formation kinetics was also evaluated for these water sources and determined to be quite rapid. Includes 14 references, tables, figures.
