Hypolimnetic oxygenation is a relatively new management technique that avertshypolimnetic anoxia and its harmful consequences by oxygenating the hypolimnion usingpure oxygen gas. This paper discusses a number of issues related to hypolimneticoxygenation including advantages of hypolimnetic oxygenation systems over traditionalaeration methods (e.g., destratification, aeration).
