In 2002, the City of Henderson, Nevada, will complete construction of one of the first ultraviolet (UV) disinfection systems in the U.S. designed specifically to provide inactivation of Cryptosporidium. This paper summarizes the practical considerations learned through design and startup of Henderson's UV project and addresses design considerations that may be necessitated by the draft EPA UV Disinfection Guidance Manual.
