Full Description
This paper discusses a nationwide project done by the Canada Mortage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) in 2001 to evaluate dual flush toilet technology with regards to: public perception, acceptance and satisfaction with dual flush toilets; field testing their effectiveness (water savings compared to 6L or 13L toilets); and, determining their cost-effectiveness compared to 6L or 13L toilets. Twelve participating municipalities across Canada, together with CMHC, undertook a dual flush toilet pilot project, in residential, commercial and municipal buildings. Approximately 60 toilets were tested in various locations. The assessment was done through measuring the flush volume, calculating the water savings, and providing a self-administered user survey. The project commenced May 2001 with initial sites chosen for residential, commercial and municipal applications. Landfill sites, apartment buildings, houses, coffee shops, etc., were selected by the participants. Includes tables, figures. Product Details
